Mountain, MIDTONES’ third full-length release, captures the band in the midtones of life — the space somewhere between shadow and highlights — where lives are quietly built in ordinary moments and, if you look close enough, true magic is revealed.
Mountain explores the emotional terrain we all move through daily: the climb, the pause, the descent, and the resolve to continue. Rather than chasing only peaks, the album finds meaning in the in-between — in persistence, presence, and the quiet courage it takes to keep going.
“Everyone is navigating some kind of mountain,” the band shares. “Whether it’s parenting, friendship, relationships, or work, it can be hard to navigate the day to day, but this record is about why we all must keep going, even when it feels heavy.”
Recorded in Nashville, Mountain was made with the support and collaboration of Bernie Chiaravalle (Michael McDonald), Jeremy Ferguson (Battle Tapes), Tim Smiley, Tye Bellar, Seth West (Gray Worry), and Ben Mercantel (Sugar sk*-*lls) whose contributions helped shape the album’s intimate yet expansive sound.
Following a series of singles, the band reached their final ascent with the release of the culminating tracks on January 23, 2026.

Mixed, mastered and produced by Bernie CHIARAVALLE, who amongst many musical accomplishments, has been the lead guitar player for Michael McDonald's band for nearly three decades. The band received great production support from Seth West (aka Gray Worry) and Tye Bellar - who are also wizards in their own right in the Nashville ambient-rock group, Financier.
